In an ongoing effort to provide knowledge and support to Norfolk residents, we strive to educate and serve the community in whatever ways we can.  One of the ways that we are able to accomplish this on a regular basis is through our FREE weekly media workshops on Tuesday evenings, and we are very proud to announce our upcoming schedule for the remainder of Summer 2015.

TUESDAY, JULY 14, 2015: BASIC SOUND

Taught by Production Coordinator Chris Lawn, this beginner class will show you how to achieve the best in sound in a variety of settings by using different types of microphones.

TUESDAY, JULY 21, 2015: EDITING WITH ADOBE PREMIERE PRO

Taught by NCTV Board Member Jordan Tynes, this beginner class will give an overview of the basics of editing with this amazing software.  No experience necessary!

TUESDAY, JULY 14, 2015: ASK A PRODUCER - AN OPEN FORUM

Led by Chris Lawn, this open forum made for all experience levels will be an opportunity to learn about what goes into creating a show at NCTV and a chance to ask any and all the questions you might have!

TUESDAY, AUGUST 4, 2015: STUDIO PRODUCTION - PART 1

Taught by Chris Lawn, part 1 of this beginner workshop will provide an overview of the studio itself including sets, lights, audio, and cameras.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 11, 2015: STUDIO PRODUCTION - PART 2

Taught by Chris Lawn, part 2 of this beginner workshop will head into the control room and demonstrate all of the magic that happens behind-the-scenes to make everything run properly.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 18, 2015: EDITING WITH FINAL CUT PRO X

Taught by NCTV Board Member Jordan Tynes, this beginner class will give an overview of the basics of editing including importing media, editing, adding music and sound effects, and so much more!  No experience necessary!

TUESDAY, AUGUST 25, 2015: INTERMEDIATE CAMERA

Taught by Executive Director Katy Woodhams, this intermediate-level class will take a look at shooting with more style and control as well as taking a look at all of the features of the Sony NX5 such as the audio inputs and manual controls.  Skills learned in this class can be applied to all cameras and is highly recommended for anyone with a  serious interest in filmmaking.
